Our new message series is about the actions of Jesus and those who follow him.  Church at the Center and Schweitzer will share this common journey of focusing on the stories and actions of Jesus in Luke’s Gospel with the goal of our becoming more actively engaged in the activities of Jesus and bringing more people into the Kingdom.

Truth be told, many people feel like misfits.  They don’t feel like they belong.  There is a terrible price the church pays for keeping all those other people out so that we can savor being an insider.  What we discover in Luke’s Gospel is that Jesus is a vigorous champion of the outsider.  We see this in whom he chooses to follow him, the healing of an “unclean” woman and his casting a Samaritan as the hero of his story.  Jesus sends his followers out so they/we don’t become stagnant or ingrown.  He gives us the vision of what it means to be the Prodigal’s Father, and how he himself experienced being “cast out” of his father’s own vineyard.  The series culminates with Jesus first viewed as a stranger by his own friends on the road to Emmaus until suddenly their eyes are opened to see the most transforming reality of all—the risen Christ.
