The ice storm cometh or not! Regardless, the weather report is good for Sunday with a warming trend. We look forward to seeing you in worship for the second message in the series “Paul: The Road Ahead.” I am particularly excited about this week’s message as we look at the Antioch Church (Acts 11:19-30, 13: 1-3) and see parallels between what occurred in Antioch and what is occurring at Schweitzer.

We are tearing the place up a bit the next few weeks with a new connection center being created on your right as you enter the foyer through entrance A. Slots in the wall, a computer on the built in counter, and other features will aid our First Impressions people to help guests and all of us get better connected. This project is to be completed by Sunday, January 22. The renovation of the pews and carpeting replacement is slated to begin Monday, January 30, with its completion expected by the end of February. Here are other things happening now at Schweitzer:

Interested in becoming a member of Schweitzer? Have you been worshiping, serving, and growing as a follower of Jesus around here for a while? Experience what we believe; how we commit to actively living out our faith here and in the community. Take the next step and join us in Memorial Hall, noon-1:30, this Sunday. Food and childcare is provided. Contact Pastor Jim, jmason@sumc.co, to sign up or for more information.

BAM is kicking off the new year with the film, “The Call of the Entrepreneur.” This film tells the stories of a merchant banker, a failing dairy farmer, and a refugee from China. One risked his savings, one his farm, and the other his life. All took risks in business to build something good. Join us Tuesday, January 17, 6-8 PM in the Outreach Center. A discussion will follow the film.

Faith & Finances is a 12-week financial education ministry where we will come together to learn money management skills, discover biblical stewardship principles, and build supportive relationships. Class starts January 18 at 6:00 p.m. For more information, contact Justin Setser, 417-576-7427 or jsetser83@gmail.com.

HELP WANTED. Looking for ways to get involved while having fun and learning valuable skills? The audio team is looking for volunteers to run sound on Sunday mornings. Training is available and prior experience is desirable but not required. Contact Vincent Nolden at w.m.nolden@gmail.com for further information.

I hope you are as excited as I am about all that is occurring through our congregation! We pray: Do more Lord! Invite others to join us in the mission of “Transforming lives by making disciples of Jesus Christ.”
