Our series continues this week with the question: Why Rest? It’s a natural follow-up to last week’s question, Why does Work Matter? If you are traveling or away on weekends this summer, one way of staying connected is to listen to the podcast of each week’s message on our website sumc.co. If you missed my message on July 2, I encourage you to listen/watch it on our website as I point to our need for a Great Awakening! I invite you to join me in praying with a spirit of urgency and audacity for a mighty movement of God.
When you’ve found Schweitzer is the place where you can live out your discipleship, come participate in our membership class. This one-session class will let you explore more deeply our core beliefs, values, and membership covenant. Take the next step and join us in Memorial Hall, noon-1:30, Sunday, July 23. Food and childcare is provided. To sign up or for more information, email Pastor Jim at email@example.com.
The next Jobs for Life Session begins on Tuesday, July 25. We are looking for people to be Champions for our students. A Champion goes through the course with a student and becomes a source of encouragement, friendship, and positive role model. The only requirement is to be willing to be a friend and listen. For more information, contact Scott Warren, firstname.lastname@example.org or 417-766-8812.
On July 30 at 12:15 p.m., the young adults will be throwing a BBQ at the home of Jake Hotchkiss, 750 S. Sparks Ave., Springfield. If you’d like to contribute with food, drinks, or yard games, please email email@example.com. Children are welcome and feel free to invite your friends!
An inviting outdoor space with a small chapel is currently under construction just west of the Stanford garden with access from the church parking lot. This spot will be designated for prayer, quiet reflection, and spiritual healing. Memorial pavers honoring a loved one or commemorating a group or event can be purchased for placement within the prayer garden by completing a form and enclosing payment of $50. Forms are available at the Connection Center.
Join us for the church-wide Schweitzer Carnival on August 20 at 5:00pm! The carnival will feature games, food, music, and much more, all for free! All are invited to attend and bring your friends! If you are interested in volunteering, email Taylor Likes, firstname.lastname@example.org.
It is a privilege to serve as your pastor. I hope to see you Sunday in worship.
