Dear Schweitzer Friends,

We celebrate Pentecost this Sunday in worship as we continue the series Little Books with a Big Punch. This week’s message takes us to the prophet Joel’s words: “I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.” Christ followers saw this scripture fulfilled as the Spirit descended on them in Jerusalem fifty days following the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. May there be fresh visitations of God’s Spirit in our lives today.  You may wear red in celebration of the fire of the Spirit as you come to worship.

Jake Hotchkiss, our Director of Young Adult Ministries, will be joining the pastoral staff. He will be appointed as a student pastor to Schweitzer at the Missouri Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, June 9-12. This is a major milestone in Jake’s life as he has completed candidacy studies, attended pastoral licensing school, and continues his graduate work as a Masters of Divinity student at Asbury Theological Seminary. You may write your personal blessing on a banner to Jake as you come to worship, Sunday, June 11th. We are thrilled to welcome Jake to the pastoral team.
