Dear Schweitzer Friends,

We have gotten a positive response from this series of messages as they have touched places deep in the heart. If you have missed some of these messages, I encourage you to listen or watch the podcasts of the previous messages: April 23-Why Forgiveness?  April 30-Steps Toward Forgiveness,  May 7-Seeking Forgiveness. You may wish to encourage others in your life to check out these messages or pick up CD recordings. We conclude the series with this Sunday’s message:  Receiving God’s Forgiveness and Reconciliation. It is through our receiving God’s forgiveness and reconciliation that brings total healing and restoration. Invite others to join you this Mother’s Day for worship.

Schweitzer Responding to Flood Recovery

Van Buren UMC needs flood recovery help. If you (or anyone you know) is available Wednesday (the 10th) potentially through Saturday (the 13th), please contact Emergency Response team leader, Larry Summers at 886-8804 or 619-2174. Tools are provided, but if you have a favorite, bring it along with a bed roll or sleeping bag. Work gloves advised. Our neighbors need help. Who can respond?

Garden Chapel

Members of the congregation have requested a Garden Chapel Columbarium. The proposal is to combine a beautiful and serene Columbarium with our Garden Chapel. This Holy place will serve as a final resting place for the cremains of our members and their extended families. This will allow for the complete cycle of baptism, confirmation, worship, marriage, funeral rites, and now burial within the church. Please join us for an informational meeting in the Fellowship Center on Monday, May 22, at 6:30 PM.

When you’ve found Schweitzer is the place where you can live out your discipleship, come participate in our membership class. This one-session class will let you explore more deeply our core beliefs, values, and membership covenant. Take the next step and join us in Memorial Hall, noon-1:30, Sunday, May 21. Food and childcare is provided. For more information or to sign up, email Pastor Jim at jmason@sumc.co.

#sumcGo

This summer we’re hosting a contest to see where our church goes! This Sunday, May 14, we will be handing out stickers and window clings for you to take with you wherever you go, take a photo and post it on social media with #sumcGO! Prizes for furthest traveled, most traveled, most creative, and people’s choice. Visit sumc.co/GO for all the details! (There will also be a limited number of magnets available at the Connection Center.)

See you Sunday!
