As we move toward summer activities and hopefully a less hectic pace, I want to encourage you when you are in town, don’t skip out on Sunday worship. Our Worship staff has planned a seven-week series beginning this Sunday I think you’ll find interesting. We will be sharing messages each week from a different Old Testament book. They are Little Books with a Big Punch, providing timeless poignant words from the prophets which speak into the issues of our day. When you are traveling out of town, be sure and listen to a podcast of the weekly message on our website and participate in the #sumcGO contest!
This summer we’re hosting a contest to see where our church goes!
We have stickers, window clings, and magnets with the Schweitzer logo and website on them. (If you didn’t receive one already, you can pick yours up at the Connection Center on Sunday mornings.) All you have to do is take one of those with you wherever you go this summer. Whether that’s on an awesome camping trip to the Andes or if it’s just down the street to Andy’s! When you’re there, take a photo with your sticker/window cling/magnet and post it on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with #sumcGO! Visit sumc.co/GO for more details!
When you’ve found Schweitzer is the place where you can live out your discipleship, come participate in our membership class. This one-session class will let you explore more deeply our core beliefs, values, and membership covenant. Take the next step and join us in Memorial Hall, noon-1:30, this Sunday, May 21. Food and childcare is provided.
Members of the congregation have requested a Garden Chapel Columbarium. The proposal is to combine a beautiful and serene Columbarium with our Garden Chapel. This Holy place will serve as a final resting place for the cremains of our members and their extended families. This will allow for the complete cycle of baptism, confirmation, worship, marriage, funeral rites, and now burial within the church. Please join us for an informational meeting in the Fellowship Center on Monday, May 22, at 6:30 PM.
The Global Leadership Summit
The Willow Creek Global Leadership Summit, August 10-11, 2017, helps leaders to get better at leading. The GLS brings business leaders, futurists, and people who follow Jesus into a conversation about personal, community, and corporate leadership. Schweitzer, a GLS partner, has a special member rate of $99. The GLS is a simulcast to Ridgecrest Baptist Church. To learn more or to sign-up, contact Mary Decker at firstname.lastname@example.org.

WORDS OF APPRECIATION
We are experiencing opportunities to serve many families who are going through bereavement with four Celebration of Life services in our sanctuary this week. I am so grateful for the multiple ways many are serving with such caring and generous spirits. It is through the donation of food; the inspiration of musicians, vocalists and choir members; our hospitality teams, custodial personnel, audio/visual operators; and others who work tirelessly behind the scenes that the church is at its best. Your prayers for those who grieve and for those who minister are appreciated.
I look forward to seeing you in worship this Sunday!
