Construction has begun on our sanctuary and restrooms!
The front part of the sanctuary (chancel area) is scheduled for completion by November 20. The restrooms will be out of commission longer. The refurbishing of the pews and other enhancements to the sanctuary will occur by Spring. Traditional worship will occur this Sunday in the sanctuary. Modern worship at 9:40 will be moved to the Outreach Center this Sunday only.
We are serving about 200 adults and children in our food pantry every month. Please pick up a bag and list as you leave worship this Sunday and help us fill our pantry shelves by bringing the items back with you next Sunday, November 20. Money donations are also appreciated. Thank you for your support!
Schweitzer’s outreach, pastoral care, kids & youth, going deeper classes & groups are vivid expressions of transformation at Schweitzer. These ministries are tied to the ongoing generosity of our congregation. The regular practice of giving tithes and offerings deepens our walk with Christ and provides the financial resources our church needs. Sunday, November 20 is Generosity Sunday, the day we ask all members of our church family to bring their 2017 PLANNED GIVING CARD to worship. Pray about what the Lord is leading you to do in your giving in 2017.
Interested in becoming a member of Schweitzer? Have you been worshiping, serving, and growing as a follower of Jesus around here for a while? Take the next step and join us in room 204/206, noon-1:30, this Sunday, November 13. Food and childcare is provided! Contact Pastor Jim Mason, email@example.com, to sign up or for more information.
Springfield One Thanksgiving Worship
Schweitzer will host a special worship service with our sister SPRINGFIELD ONE churches–East Sunshine Church of Christ, Glendale Christian, and Hope Church–Sunday, November 20, 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. We enjoy a special relationship with these churches in spreading and living out the Good News of Jesus as ONE CHURCH in our neighborhood. As giving thanks is our theme, we will receive an offering for VICTORY MISSION to benefit those who may need some extra blessings we often take for granted. Come be a part of a special time of worship and fellowship with other believers!
The prayer word for the month of November is peace. Following a tumultuous election season and regardless of our political views, let’s heed the words of scripture: “For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility…His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace.” –Ephesians 2: 14,15. While these words are in reference to the hostility between Jews and Gentiles, they certainly can find application to us as American Christians. May we be leaders in creating greater civility and healing in our lives.
I’m grateful for the privilege of serving as your pastor.
