Jake Hotchkiss, Schweitzer’s Young Adults Director, has answered the call of God on his life to pursue Ordained Ministry within the United Methodist Church. In our denomination, a candidate for ministry must first be approved by their own local church before beginning the ordination process. Jake has met with our Church Board which has affirmed Jake’s call to ministry. The next step is for Jake to receive the affirmation of his call at a special called Church Conference at Schweitzer, Sunday, October 29, 12:12pm in the sanctuary. Jake will share his call to ministry at the conference. All members of the church are invited to attend and vote upon the recommendation of Jake to enter the process toward ordination. I have been authorized by the Rev. Lynn Dyke, Ozarks District Superintendent, to chair the conference.
We are grateful for the response we have to date in Looking Forward as we refresh the sanctuary and women’s restroom, extending and making accessible our chancel area. We have entered into a contract with construction beginning November 7. Total gifts and pledges to date is $265,000 with the cost of the project being $325,000. We ask for your prayers and continued financial support in fully funding these projects as we renew our worship space and improve our hospitality for years to come.
We start a new series of messages The Five T’s of Transformation this Sunday at Schweitzer, beginning with Talents. We’ll look at how God uses our natural talents and spiritual gifts to transform lives for Jesus. See you Sunday!
