Dear Schweitzer Friends,
It seems each week has new stories of destruction perpetrated by human hands or natural disasters. As the news this week recounts the deadliest massacre in US history in Las Vegas and the ongoing plight of citizens in Puerto Rico, our prayers unite in crying out for God’s mercy and comfort to be close to those wounded, have had their lives uprooted and the families of all those who have died. Lord, bind up the brokenhearted and save those crushed in spirit.
We have received 22 Cleaning Kits for disaster relief and are still collecting kits through the month of October. Several have made monetary donations. Checks may be made out to Schweitzer UMC with the memo DISASTER RELIEF on the check. Donations may also be made online, go to sumc.co and click on “GIVE.” If you are interested in being a part of a disaster relief team from Schweitzer, you may email Larry Summers, firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.

God is moving in our worship and through our classes as we continue our study of the book of Romans. Join us for worship this Sunday as we explore the ongoing work of God’s sanctifying grace and our victory over the life of sin. The Good News continues: Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Romans 5: 1, 2.
See you Sunday!
