Hi Schweitzer friends,
I hope you’re enjoying a beautiful week in the Ozarks and celebrating God’s creation. I’m thankful and celebrating new life is everywhere.
Speaking of celebrating, I’m reminded of Psalm 100…“make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into His presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is He who made us, and we are his; we are His people…” Recently, we celebrated the Caring Ministries here at Schweitzer in a Care-A-Palooza. The servants caring for the generations celebrated God, serving the Lord with gladness and life. And, everyone learned to play a kazoo!
Thanks and well done!
Schweitzer has completed its run as a Sole Food shoe donation location. We’re grateful for your strong support of Sole Food all these years. Many people have been blessed!
New Prayer Garden
Come join in for a workday to cleanup and prepare the groundwork for an inviting Prayer Garden for Schweitzer—8:00 a.m. until noon, this Saturday, June 10. Meet at the parking lot just west of the Stanford Garden. Bring your work gloves and garden tools and prepare to get dirty.
Jake Hotchkiss, our Director of Young Adult Ministries, will be joining the pastoral staff. He will be appointed as a student pastor to Schweitzer at the Missouri Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, June 9-12. This is a major milestone in Jake’s life as he has completed candidacy studies, attended pastoral licensing school, and continues his graduate work as a Masters of Divinity student at Asbury Theological Seminary. We are thrilled to welcome Jake to the pastoral team.
An Adventure with God
I hope your journey with God and others continues to be an adventure. I’m grateful for having the adventure of hiking the Camino de Santiago—The Way of St. James in May. It was an adventure, a pilgrimage, through Spain with others from Missouri and around the world. This long, but simple, walk with God increased our capacity to experience the presence of God.
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures for evermore”—Psalm 16
We continue our series Little Books with a Big Punch this Sunday. We’ll hear from Prophet Habakkuk and his conversations with God. Have a great weekend; make it an adventure experiencing God’s presence. Enjoy God’s creation!
