Cold Winter Nights
Before we start our next Wednesday night message series, we are excited to spend the month of January growing more connected with each other.  We are planning three Wednesdays of fellowship and fun!
January 18 – Zenith Climbing Gym
Zenith Climbing Gym is an indoor rock climbing center for all ages and levels of abilities. SUMC Youth will be meeting there on Wednesday, January 18. We’ll be climbing from 6-8pm. Each student will pay $12 which will include 2 hours of climbing, climbing shoes, multiple belay instructors, climbing harness, and chalk bag. All climbers need to fill out a waiver online ahead of time. You can fill out there waiver on Zenith’s website HERE.
You can sign up HERE for the event.
January 25 – Sky Zone
On Wednesday, January 25, we will meet at Skyzone at 5:00 p.m. to allow students to jump from from the time they arrive until 7:00 p.m., when Sky Zone closes for the evening.  Wednesdays at Sky Zone are WOW Wednesday and for $13 participants can jump from the time they arrive until close.  We are asking each student that plans on jumping to purchase their ticket directly from Sky Zone.  To ensure that the jump times do not sell out, you can purchase your tickets ahead of time HERE.
All students under 18 that will be jumping need to have a waiver completed by their parents in this calendar year.  Please go HERE to complete the Sky Zone waiver.  Sky socks are required for all participants.  If your student(s) already has some, please make sure they bring them.  If your student(s) needs to purchase Sky socks they are $2.00 plus tax and are reusable.
Transportation is NOT provided to this event.  Students can be dropped off at Sky Zone at 5:00 p.m. and need to be picked up at 7:00 p.m.

Spring Retreats
We are excited to give all Schweitzer youth (and any friends) an opportunity to unplug from the chaos of their lives and take them on a weekend retreat to Discovery Ministries in Eminence, Missouri. At Discovery Ministries students can experience the adrenaline rush that comes from experiencing challenge while growing in their faith.  The staff at Discovery Ministries will introduce our students to adventure while guiding them toward Jesus!
MIDDLE SCHOOL RETREAT
The Middle School Retreat will be Friday, February 10 – Sunday, February 12.  We will leave after school on Fridayand return on Sunday afternoon. We believe that this retreat experience is an important component to the confirmation curriculum and are asking that all students in the confirmation class plan on attending this retreat, if their schedule allows.  This cost of the retreat is $40.00 per student. The cost will cover all the meals, lodging, and activities for the weekend.  Please sign your student up for the retreat by Sunday, January 29.
HIGH SCHOOL RETREAT
The High School Retreat will be on Friday, March 3 – Sunday, March 5.  We will leave after school of Friday and return on Sunday afternoon.  The cost of the retreat is $40.00 per student.  The cost will cover all the meals, lodging, and activities for the weekend. Please sign your student by Sunday, February 19.
CHAPERONS
To make these retreats possible, we need parents and youth leaders to volunteer as chaperons and drivers. Parent and youth leader support is vital in making the retreat successful. The retreats are free for chaperons. If you are able to volunteer to be a chaperon for either the Middle School Retreat and/or High School Retreat, please sign up below.
Sign-up HERE by Sunday, January 29, to chaperon the Middle School Retreat.

Ronald McDonald Family Dinner Service Project
On Sunday, February 26, and Sunday, March 26, the SUMC Youth will be providing the family dinner at the Ronald McDonald House.  Many of the parents and other family members staying at the Ronald McDonald House do not have the time to prepare adequate meals because it is additional time that they will be away from their sick child or infant. The dinners that we will provide will allow families to relax and enjoy an evening meal at the Ronald McDonald House.  In addition to providing and serving the meal, we can eat with the families and offer fellowship and support to these families.
To make these meals possibles for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, we are in need for volunteers to help in the preparation of the meals and/or donation of food for the meals. We will also need students and parents to volunteer to serve the meals and be in fellowship with the families at the Ronald McDonald House the nights we provide our meals.
Please sign-up HERE to volunteer to help with the Ronald McDonald Family Dinner on Sunday, February 26.
