Read Mark 2:1-12.
We read and sing of forgiveness. We include the word in our prayers. We believe that God forgives our sins, and we’re grateful, but have we grown numb to the truth of this feat? When Jesus says that he has the authority on earth to forgive sins, he is claiming the power to send away our sins and guilt. He does not merely announce forgiveness; He accomplishes it. The teachers of the law were correct in thinking that only God can forgive sins, but He sat in front of them. The people were amazed by the spectacular, but in fact what had never been seen before was this person who was God and man. The invisible healing that occurred that day was the true evidence of Jesus’ identity.
Allow Him to heal you. Only God can forgive sins.
