Read Acts 11:22-24.
A group of internatonal students gathers weekly, and we read the Bible together. As we talk, the Spirit often reminds me that God has translated Himself into the culture of people around the world, including our own! When Barnabas visits the Gentile believers in Antioch, he does not insist that they mimic the Jewish church in Jerusalem. He rejoices and stresses only that they cling to the Person who has moved into their hearts and lives – Jesus, the Lord. Christ had not called them to a creed, but a relationship. Let us remember as we meet Christians who may worship or look differently than us, that we serve and love not a religion, or even a church, but a Person who intimately involves Himself in every life on the planet. Like Barnabas, let us encourage and rejoice!
