Daniel lived in a time much like our own. For Christians in America today, this story is one that we have much to learn from. Daniel prayed three times a day, every day, facing Jerusalem. Jerusalem was a concrete image in Daniel’s mind to focus on as he prayed for the deliverance of his people. Daniel was faithful; he never stopped praying even when it became illegal. His outstanding moral character defined him, so much so that the king himself was in Daniel’s corner upon learning that Daniel was to be thrown into the lion’s den. Daniel’s faithfulness spoke so loudly that the king declared everyone was to worship “the God of Daniel.” As you ponder Daniel’s bold faithfulness, pray that similar faith would be given to you, and remember the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14.

14if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
