Read James 1:12.
12Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
I feel spoiled. The world teaches that I can have what I want, when I want it, and live without discomfort! All too easily, I succumb. I fear I am losing the ability to “endure.”
The literal meaning of this Greek term is “to stay under.” Jesus chose to endure the cross. When tests or trials come, we too have a choice to stay under or squirm away. We can choose not to give up, not to give in, for He is there with us, giving us his strength and sharing the load.
Look at the verse again. Who receives the crown of life? To whom is it promised? Could they be one and the same? When we choose to persevere, are we then actually living our love for Him? Let us offer our trials to Him in love. He will help us!

3No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
