Mary Beth Owens

Administrative Assistant
From 1980 to 1997, Mary Beth lived in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. She started her healthcare career by working for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. The winters were something else, so she decided to move closer to her parent’s here in Missouri. She worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield and United HealthCare here in Springfield, Missouri. Mary Beth decided to make a change in her career life and through Kelly Services, was introduced to Schweitzer. She wanted to work for an organization that invests in people’s lives. It has been the best adventure in her career that she’s ever encountered.

What Mary Beth see’s in Schweitzer is what she saw when she initially became employed. She sees everyone pulling together in love to serve the community and share the Gospel of peace, love and hope to the world.

Who are two women you respect from history?

Two women in history that I respect are Rosa Parks and Harriet Tubman. They put their lives on the line by challenging slavery and racism and changed the world.

What do you like about Fall?

Fall is my favorite time of the year. First, because my birthday is in fall. Second it’s right after the hottest time of the year and we all need a break from the hot Missouri summers. Then because it’s FOOTBALL SEASON!

When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was a child I had a ton of cooking books and would look through them and dream about what kinds of menu’s I would have in my very own restaurant. I have always gravitated towards owning my own restaurant. However, It would not be in my best physical interest to work around food.

What can we pray for you for?

Please pray for my daughter as she continues her trek through college.  Pray for my parents and myself that I am able to help them as best as possible while they continue to live independently with each other.
