Ash Wednesday Service

Schweitzer UMCEvents, Homepage

Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent, a period of reflection and proper sorrow over the reality that sin, my sin, our sin had to be addressed in such a way that God in Christ went to the cross to bring about forgiveness and restoration for all things. We hold a unique worship service on Ash Wednesday, February 26, at 6 PM. The service is shorter in length, about 30-35 minutes, and culminates with the placing of ashes either on the forehead or back of the hand, remembering that we are dust and our hope is in Christ. The service takes place in the sanctuary and kids, youth, and adults are welcome to attend. Childcare is available for babies – age 3. Following the service Kids and Youth meet, as do ongoing classes.
