What a fun week we’ve had with Vacation Bible School!
I wasn’t assigned a job for VBS; instead, I spend my time wandering around and watching all that we’re doing. I am blown away by the over-and-above work we are doing to make VBS an incredible experience for kids. We have volunteer leaders serving in all kinds of ways: skits, games, crafts, snacks, crew leaders, administration, decorations, media, and the list goes on and on and on. There are folks who took off work to volunteer. We have volunteers from every generation participating.
Thank you! As a volunteer, you are helping our church fulfill our mission of transforming lives by making disciples of Jesus Christ. I know my own kids had an incredible time making friends and learning about God’s love for them. Thank you for making that happen!
One of the things I’ve been hearing on my Listening Tour is the importance of children and youth ministry for Schweitzer. One of the questions we ask in each session is “Why did you come to Schweitzer and why do you stay?” I can’t tell you how many people I’ve heard say that the children and youth ministry is what brought them to the church. I’m not just hearing those kinds of stories from people who are currently raising kids. There have been many retired folks who told me they found Schweitzer decades ago because of our church’s focus on children and youth ministry.
Thank you Schweitzer for making a week like this happen. You should be proud of the work we’re doing together to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
This Sunday we’re going to continue our series on Navigating Change.
I can’t wait to see you Sunday!
