We are on a series of Pastor’s Notes exploring the United Methodist Church, and the proposed “Protocol of Reconciliation and Grace through Separation.” If you’ve missed a note, you can read our previous notes on our website. Through this series I’m sharing with you some of the reasons I see a separation in the UMC as a positive.
Today, I’m asking you for your input.
We have put together a Study Group of Schweitzer members exploring how the upcoming General Conference of the UMC may impact Schweitzer and any action we may need to take as a church. Our Study Group would like to hear from you. We have put together a short survey to help us better understand our congregation. Likely, this will be the first of a few surveys we will ask you to take. This survey is not meant to create an action plan, but rather to help us better understand the overall mindset of our church family.
You can find the survey here: SURVEY.
Also, I want you to know a few things about the survey:
- We will share the results of the survey in an upcoming Pastor’s Note.(You may have noticed transparency is a big deal for me.)
- All of the questions are anonymous, except for the final question. The final question is open-ended. If you choose to answer that question we would like to know who says what so please include your name. If you do not include your name your comment will not be passed on to the Study Group. We will not share any comments from the last question with the wider congregation.
- Surveys are helpful for us to understand the congregation. However, Schweitzer does not make decisions based on popular opinions. We make decisions by the leading of the Holy Spirit.
- You may be surprised by some of the questions and I don’t want you to read into any of these questions as representing the position or direction of Schweitzer.
Thank you for participating. Once again here is a link to the SURVEY.
This Sunday we’ll be reading John 11 where Jesus says “I AM the resurrection and the life.” We’re going to talk about hope and the new life in Jesus we have available for us today.
I can’t wait to see you!
