Schweitzer UMCNews

Be proud of our students at SUMC! Over the past couple of weeks, our students have learned about serving, brainstormed ways to serve, done all the necessary preparations to serve, and last Wednesday, used their hands and feet to bring their ideas and passions to community of Springfield.

We had students all over Springfield bringing the Good News and Joy of the Lord to people. Students and adults went to Mercy Hospital, Cox South Hospital, and MSU’s Library to hand out goodie bags with Christmas candy, encouraging Christmas cards, and offer prayer to anyone and everyone that would allow it.

This entire evening, based around living out the Gospel and serving others, was student-led. If you’ve ever been worried about this generation of teens, you should get to know this group at Schweitzer, because they make God proud, and they’d make you proud as well.

Schweitzer Chancel Choir with orchestra will celebrate the meaning of Christmas through music this Sunday, December 15. Join us during the 8:20, 9:40, or 11:00 worship service in the Sanctuary, as we praise God for bringing us from our darkness into the light, through Jesus’ birth.

We will be gathering toys for Crosslines as we share the joy of the holidays with families who are not able to afford gifts for their children. Purchase a toy and bring your UNWRAPPED toy to our Christmas tree in the Fellowship Center NO LATER than December 15. Thank you for sharing the joy!

What better way to enter the Advent season than to step into the magical world of Narnia. Come watch Narnia as a family in the Outreach Center on December 14. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. Movie starts at 5:30 p.m. We’ll be enjoying cocoa and snacks!

We want to be sure that Schweitzer is offering a warm welcome to everyone who enters our doors on Christmas Eve. This year we will be offering three worship services: 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m.. Childcare will be provided for children, 3 and under, during the 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. services. If you would be willing to serve as a greeter, usher, or communion server on Christmas Eve, contact Sheila Pippin at [email protected]. You can also call/text her at 417-861-0861, or call the church office at 417-881-6800, extension 230.

This Christmas Eve, we invite you to join us as we celebrate the hope and peace born into our world. Come and celebrate the miracle of the Christ child. The miracle that says to us: God is with you! Click here for more information.
