Schweitzer Youth

Last week, our teenagers at Schweitzer had the opportunity to live out the words James proclaims in James 1:27. Religion that God accepts as pure and faultless is looking after orphans and widows. Our mission team spent the week in Ozark, MO loving, serving, and speaking with Mary Lou Braswell. Mary Lou had lost her husband a couple years ago, and could not keep up with her property like she would like. So our students painted, rebuilt areas of her property, helped with landscaping, and sat with Mary Lou to have deep faith conversations. God shaped and formed our team this week in ways we couldn’t imagine. Schweitzer should be very proud to have these teenagers and adult leaders as part of our faith community, living out the Word of God in their daily lives!

VBS Block Parties have been a blast so far! We’ve already had four block parties with another one happening this week and seven more planned. It’s amazing how many kids God is helping us reach this summer with a message about how focusing on Him can change our perspective, our lives, and our world. When asked what is your favorite of God’s creation, we had answers ranging from “baby animals” to “basketball” to “going to work.” When asked how to answer the question “who is Jesus,” we were told “the kindest friend ever,” “my bro,” and “the person who died on the cross to save us.” These kids are getting the message loud and clear and learning how to share it with others. We can’t wait to see how God continues working for our kids this summer. If you’re interested in signing your kids up for a VBS of no more than 16 kids, give us a call at 881-6800. If you’d like your kids to have the VBS experience, but you want to stay contained as a family unit, please contact us too! We’d be happy to provide you with all you need to do a Family VBS Party. May God continue to bless our endeavors to disciple children.

All of us have unique interactions with God, stories of God showing up in our lives. In these 52 Stories, people connected to Schweitzer share how God is present and transforming in their lives. In watching, may you be inspired in Hope, encouraged in Faith, and active in sharing your story of God’s presence in your life.
