Youth Puerto Rico Trip Recap
Our church sent a team to Puerto Rico last week consisting of Tim Smith, Tim Knopf, Julie Slover, Adam Prost, Sam Knopf, and Grace Kirksey. They worked alongside the Gonzalez family in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico to help ensure their home would withstand another hurricane the size of Maria, which hit the island two years ago. A long-lasting friendship was created among our team and the Gonzalez family. Our team is very blessed to have had the opportunity to serve in Puerto Rico last week.

Creating Excellent Guest Experiences… Reflecting God’s Love
God calls people to the Schweitzer campus every day of the week. It’s a privilege and awesome responsibility to welcome guests the way God desires. What does that look like? How are we doing? You’re invited to experience excellent hospitality and become a servant who delivers the same experience with others, especially guests, this Saturday, March 23, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. (Lunch included) Jason Young, author of The Come Back Effect will be the teacher/coach for this event. You can pick up a copy of the book in the foyer. A $5 contribution helps cover the costs. (On Kindle too). Childcare provided with advance notice.
A church-wide commitment to pray and fast every Wednesday through Lent
During Lent (March 6–April 17), we invite you to join us in fasting every Wednesday and praying, wherever you are, at Noon. If you’re free during the lunch hour, join us for a prayer service held each Wednesday from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. in the main sanctuary. As a whole church, we seek the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit—denying ourselves, briefly, the pleasures of this world, that we may find the riches of heaven—an awakening in our midst!
Run for the Son/Easter Egg Hunt
Run for the Son is a joint fundraiser between the children’s ministries and preschools at Schweitzer, Wesley, Campbell, and Kingsway. The 5K and mile run will begin at 8:00 AM at Founder’s Park. The Easter egg hunt will follow the fun.
Kids Ministry are accepting any contributions that you’d like to make toward the goody bags for this Springfield-wide, Methodist Church-sponsored Easter Egg Hunt to be held at Farmers’ Park on April 20. Donations can be dropped off either at the Kids’ Connection Desk on Sunday or the office building on a week day. We’d appreciate donations of candy, snacks (pretzels, goldfish, applesauce pouches, fruit snacks), or small prizes (tooth brushes, small toys, playdough, etc).
Our next session of Jobs for Life starts Tuesday, April 2 and we are looking for people who would like to be a Champion for one of our students. If you have been looking for an opportunity to speak life into someone, we invite you to check into being a Jobs for Life Champion. Champion Training is Thursday, March 28, 6:30-7:30. Come to the training for more information or contact Scott Warren 417-766-8812 or email@example.com.
The Schweitzer Puppet Ministry took part in the Springfield St. Pat’s Parade on Saturday, March 16. This is the 5th year the puppets have performed in the parade and they were awarded first place in the youth division. During the parade the puppets sang Lord of the Dance and Sunday school classics. Children and adults along the parade route loved seeing the puppets with B Bear and Mr. Quimper walking along with them.
Women’s Bible Study
One of the greatest challenges among women in our culture is taking time to cease from all the activities and just breathe. We are in bondage to busyness. By neglecting time for tranquility, serenity, and repose, we limit our Christ-likeness and miss out on some of God’s greatest gifts. Join us starting on Friday, March 22, at 10:00 AM for Breathe, a 5-week study by Priscilla Shirer. This study will help us see how the concept of Sabbath can change our lives. Childcare is provided.
A special Church Conference will be held, Sunday, March 24, 12:12PM in room 101-103 to hear and vote upon Jayne Markin entering the process to become a United Methodist Pastor. Our District Superintendent, Rev Lynn Dyke, will lead the meeting. All members of the church are encouraged to attend.
