Schweitzer UMCNews

Would you like to feel more comfortable talking to people who are struggling in their faith?

Would you like to connect better with God? Learn more about how Alpha can help you with just that! You are invited to the Open House this Sunday, May 19, 9:40-11:00 AM in the Outreach Building Conference Room.

A gift from Pastor Bob to the Schweitzer congregation

Pastor Bob’s 16 messages just completed from Luke have found their way into the book: “Messages from the Gospel of Luke.” Paintings by Kristin Sims Strong grace its pages with vivid imagery of poignant scenes. Through these messages, we see with fresh eyes God’s concern for the outsider. The invisible become visible and the voiceless are given a voice. We are invited to take part in this transformative work through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Your free copy may be picked up in the Fellowship Center on Sundays.

Enjoy a game, fireworks, and Bob’s last pitch as our pastor!

Join us for Schweitzer night at the ballpark on May 31! We will celebrate Pastor Bob before he retires, and watch him throw out the first pitch. Tickets are $11.00 each, which includes a baseball hat and fireworks after the game. Reserve your spot and purchase tickets at sumc.co/cardinals. Tickets may also be purchased this Sunday, May 19. Purchased tickets can be picked up at the Will Call table on Sundays.

Thanking Pastor Bob for his leadership and celebrating his retirement

Pray for the future of Schweitzer

Linda Harper is leading us in a time of prayer for the upcoming transition at Schweitzer at noon on Wednesdays, through May 29. We are praying specifically for Pastor Spencer and family, Pastor Bob and Susan, First United Methodist Church in Kearney, and Schweitzer Church. We invite you to join us in the Garden Chapel, or if you can’t make it, we encourage you to pray with us at that time. All participants are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
