Schweitzer UMCNews

This Sunday

Are you new to Schweitzer? Pastor Spencer invites you to join him, along with the other pastors, this Sunday, October 20, 12:00-1:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall. Enjoy some great City Butcher food, along with a tour of our campus. Childcare is provided. Read more and sign up here.

Pavers are now available to be engraved in our Prayer Garden, to honor or memorialize a loved one, or commemorate a group or event. For a $50.00 donation, a paver will be engraved with the information you choose (18 character limit/line, including spaces, 3 lines maximum). You may complete an order form online here or fill out a form at the Connection Desk on Sunday morning.

Fearfully and Wonderfully: The Marvel of Bearing God’s Image

You are invited to join the 9:40 a.m. Lost & Found Sunday class this Sunday, October 20, in Room 207, as they begin a 7-week study on Fearfully and Wonderfully: The Marvel of Bearing God’s Image, by Dr. Paul Brand and bestselling writer Philip Yancey. Discover here the eternal truths revealed by our seemingly ordinary existence. The human body is a window into the very structure of God’s creation and a testament to God’s glory.

For the Love of Music

Schweitzer will host Mid-America Singers in concert on Sunday, October 27 at 3:00 pm.  Mid-America Singers have a 52 year tradition of presenting outstanding choral music in our community. Make plans to hear this free concert titled “For the Love of Music.”

We appreciate you!

Soooo…you might think that the 11:00 Modern Service First Impressions Team is a bit serious….until you get to know them! What an amazing group of volunteers!

Bringing Joy!

Did you know that Senior Saints perform from October through May, and Joy Pickers perform all year? They kicked things off together last Tuesday at The Montclair. Through their performances at various retirement communities and skilled nursing facilities, they bring joy to so many people. Locations include The Montclair, Waterford, Glendale Gardens, Marantha, Creekside and The Manor at Elfindale, and many more. If you are interested in being part of either group, contact Cheryll Moll at cmoll@sumc.co.

Making a great “First Impression”

Repetition.  Repetition.  Repetition.
It has been proven that REPETITION INCREASES RETENTION. Can this be applied to ministry? ABSOLUTELY!  Our goal is to make a meaningful contact with everyone who walks through the doors at Schweitzer at least three times before they enter worship. We have several opportunities in place to make this happen.
